Juror Information
COURTHOUSE HOURS
Normal trial hours for the Court are 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. If you are seated on a trial you may stay later than 4:30 p.m.
WHAT TO WEAR
There is no prescribed dress for jurors except that the dress of any juror shall not detract from the dignity of the Court. Remember, the parties in the case look to the jurors for justice. Their faith in the jury system is more likely to persist if the jurors make a favorable appearance.
AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES
If you have any special needs or requirements, pursuant to The Act, please complete the provided questionnaires, put your requirements in writing, and enclose in the return envelope. A member of our staff will contact you to make any special arrangements. Please click the following link to see the Pike County Court's Court Of Common Pleas ADA Policy.
COMPENSATION
Pennsylvania law provides for payment of $9.00/day for the first three days of service, $25.00/day for each day thereafter. Mileage will be paid at $0.17/mile (round-trip). Payment will be made at the completion of your service. The rate of payment is fixed by an Act of State Legislature. If you have access to a computer and the World Wide Web, we encourage you to provide your round trip mileage in advance of your reporting date, by entering it into the online questionnaire.
LENGTH OF SERVICE
The service date is the date all prospective jurors are summoned to the Courthouse. Normally, the juries for all cases to be tried during the two week trial term will be selected the first day of the trial session. This means you will know by the end of the first day whether you will be serving on any case or cases. If you are selected as a juror for trial, you will be instructed to call the juror recording each evening after 5:30 for instructions on when the trial will begin.
